The Pacific Northwest in the States of Oregon and Washington, are home to 10.7 million poeople and along with Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada just north contain some unique and modern forms of transportation, all opening only beginning in 1985. The region doesn't contain any subway lines and as of 2011 only 17 underground stations in total, expanded to 21 as of 2024.
The region has the world's largest fully automated rapid transit system, 2 light rail systems, 4 modern streetcar lines, 2 conventional and 1 DMU commuter rail lines, plus a bus tunnel through one downtown. The oldset mass transit line in the region a monorail that has been proposed but never expanded beyond its inital two stops for the 1962 World's fair. A unique intercity rail corridor running European Talgo trains, called Amtrak Cascades unites the entire region together.
