Puyallup is a two-track with two two-side platforms Sounder Commuter Rail station that opened with the second round of Sounder stations on February 5, 2001. The stop is located in the town center and the two platforms shelters look like little houses with shingled gabled roofs, cream-colored walls and brown Puyallup signs. These are all in replica of the original and now demolished train depot, which is depicted in a mural on a building near the he station.
The station's two platforms run between 5th Street and 7th Street, 5th Street's entrance is via concrete walkways to each platform (that also provide the easiest way to cross between the platforms) but 7th Street is beyond the station. The northern platform (Tacoma-bound) has buses stopping directly along it including a slow Sound Transit Express bus route from downtown Seattle (because it makes so many stops before Puyallup). This platform's main entrance is from Stewart Avenue. The southern platform (Seattle-bound) has a small 364-space lot between it and West Main Avenue. There is also a parking garage along this platform that is not for transit usage.
