Sumner Station is an original Sounder Station that opened with the system on September 18, 2000. It has two side platforms that begin at the grade crossing of Maple Street and run south for the two-track line. It is located directly in the small town center. These platforms unique features are a series of gabled green canopied areas (with the accordion like look) and lampposts with some red beams and an orange roof for the up most small decorative gable. There is an extra large area compete with a clock on one of the chiney looking structures at the platform entrance to track 2 where the bus loop is.

The platforms are not labeled for the different directions of travel and a station agent (wearing a visible coat) tells boarding passengers from which track the next train will depart. When I was at the station and transferred from the second Tacoma-bound train of the PM rush to the first Seattle-bound train, they were both wrong-railing using left hand running and switched over beyond the station.
