Lougheed Town Centre opened as an island platform Millennium Line Station for the two existing tracks with a third unfinished track existing through the elevated station that will be completed by 2016 for the new Evergreen Line extension to Port Moody and Coquitlam Central Station (These are both served by West Coast Express). The island platform has a curved roof that forms four little steeples above the platform making the elevated station quite visually pleasing. This station has two entrances, at the western end to the northern corner of Austin Road and Lougheed Highway with a passageway off to Lougheed Town Centre. The other station entrance, at the eastern end of the platform leads down to the station bus loop.

In 2016 a new side platform and track were opened along with the rest of the Evergreen Extension giving the station 3 tracks and a unique 3 platform configuration. The new side paltform has a simpler flat roof and glass walls. Escalators and stairs and elevators lead off the new platform to both of the station's exits. This new platform is serviced by Millenium Line trains coming from the Evergreen Extension to VCC-Clark. The middle tracks opening to the island platform is used by Expo Line trains on the new branch that took over the original part of the Mellenium Line between here and Columbia going one more stop to Production Way-University. The other track on the opposite side of the island platform is used by both Millenium Line trains going onto the Evergreen Extension to Lafarge Lake-Douglas and inbound Expo Line trains to Downtown and the Waterfront.

As of 2024 there is a funny quirk with the countdown clocks at the station. The countdown clocks on the new side platform are monocolor orange LEDs that are the same as the ones at the rest of the Evergreen Extension Stations. The LED countdown clocks on the older island platform are more modern and multi-colored LEDs, part of a 2018-2019 upgrade to all next train signage at all older Millenium and Expo Line stations, replacing the original signs that basically just said the destination of the stopping train and no further information.
