Grasmere has a single island platform for the two track Staten Island Railway Line located in an open cut with streets crossing over on bridges above the station. This platform contains a couple of sections of canopy towards the northern and in the middle of the platform, with green and glass block canopy structures. The only entrance is via a staircase at the northern end of the platform up to a small modern station house at street level. At street level is a small indoor waiting room outside the B53 to Bay Bridge bus stop along the south side of Clove Road.
The station was rebuilt between 2012 and 2015 with trains stopping at a temporary platform north of the current platform, accessed via the opposite side of Clove Road. The rebuilding replaced the 1930s brick station house with a modern and generic looking structure.
