Norwood is a Septa station on the Northeast Corridor with two low-level side platforms for four track Northeast Corridor. There are grassy knolls on each side of the platforms with the tracks slightly depressed from nearby streets. Each platform has a single brick with a concrete roof shelter structure (painted green) for passengers waiting for trains. These have level bottoms but the sides of the structures are within the side of the hills.

These platforms both begin just northeast of the overpass of Amosland Road and run northeast with Amosland Road providing the connection between the two platforms. From the Philadelphia-bound platform there is a staircase (that stops and changes direction 90 degrees at an intermediate landing) to head up to the bridge. Reaching the Delaware-bound platform from the path between the two station platforms requires walking down a path from the Amosland Road bridge to a junction with at the edge of the 62 space parking lot. Here there is a short staircase down to the platform. This path continues step-free down to the platform, meeting up with another exit path to the eastern end of the parking lot.

The Philadelphia-bound platform has a separate entrance area at its eastern end. This is where the stations simple brick with a flat concrete roof station house is located. Inside is a small waiting room with a bench along with a ticket office opened weekday mornings.

The front of this building leads directly down to a staircase down to the platform below. The east side of the building has the main street entrance at the corner where Winona Avenue curves to become a continuing section of Welcome Avenue. There is also a ramp down to the platform nearby. The back of the station house leads back to a Town Green for the Town of Norwood.
