West Side Avenue is the terminus of the West Side Avenue branch, and the one terminus that still serves in its original role from the opening of the HBLR on April 22, 2003. The station is located at ground level on the top of hill, the other side of the getting lower and lower Palisades Mountain, towards the southern end of it. The station has an island platform with the only exit beyond the bumper blocks. There is first a small plaza that includes "Back to Basics" by Don Kennell just beyond the bumper blocks, a sculpture of letters flowing out of books. area and then either a staircase directly down to the east side of West Side Avenue, or a turqouise bridge across West Side Avenue and an elevator or stairs down to the Park and Ride Lot across the street (and the west side of West Side Avenue).
