Martin Luther King Drive is located in the crest of hill that forms what remains of the Palisades in Southern Jersey City. The station has two side platforms each with a single canopy that run east from the grade crossing of MLK Drive. This grade crossing provides primary access to the platforms but the southern Tonnelle Aveune-bound platform also has a plaza between it and Virginia Avenue.
