47th is a South Side elevated station with two wooden side platforms which are canopied for their northern halves where the exits are located. The main exit is in a little simple brick station house on the north side of 47th Street. Here a single staircase leads up to the northern end of each platform with an elevators beyond accessed by a fenced off walkway platform extension. There is a secondary exit to the south side of 47th the street with a single staircase off of each platform, like at 43rd on the Southbound platform passengers go through a high exit turnstile directly on the platform before going down a covered staircase to street level. The Loop-bound platform is the opposite, the staircase leads down (covered in mesh to avoid fare beaters) all the way down to street level where there is the high turnstile.
