Palm Avenue is a simple original San Diego Trolley Station with ground-level concrete platforms with there tactile warning strips. The middle of the platform has concrete across the tracks providing a pedestrian crossing. The northbound platform has a 499 space parking lot alongside it and the standard brown station shelter in the middle of it. This parking lot leads about two LRV-lengths south to Palm Avenue's level-crossing. The southbound platform has two red bus stop shelters with benches beneath and has a car drop off loop from Hollister Street which is parallel to the tracks.
The station was completely rebuilt as Part of the Trolley Renewal Project from October 2014 through March 2015. The trolley platforms were moved south and now begin only about 40 feet from Plam Avenue grade-crossing and run north. They have the standard two modern larger cream colored canopies and ballast between the tracks except for four pedestrian crossings. The former Hollister Street car drop-off loop along the San Ysidro-bound platform has been removed, there is now just a short ramp from the southern end of this platform to Hollister Street. The San Diego-bound platform is still along the 499 space park & ride lot, the largest on the Blue Line.
