Hamilton Avenue is most northern intermediate stop on the River LINE located within the City of Trenton, it is on a section of two-track line that continues all the way to the terminus in Trenton. The station platforms, two side platforms for the two-track line, are located mid-block, approximately 450 feet south of the grade-crossing Hamilton Avenue, and approximately 650 feet north of the grade-crossing of Broad Street. The station is parallel to NJ Route 129, just west of the station, a sidewalk-less highspeed strode that enters and underpass and goes under Broad Street.
The station’s two platforms are entirely accessible from the eastern, Trenton-bound platform at entrances down short ramps at either end of this platform. This is also where pedestrian crossings provide all access to the Camden-bound platform. These entrances lead north to a sidewalk (I assume owned by NJ Transit, with lampposts the River LINE standard) parallel to the tracks along an alley up to Hamilton Avenue. At the southern station entrance is a tiny 23 space free Park & Ride lot that leads to an entrance to Elmer Street that curves south to follow the tracks south of the station.
An interoperative panel on “Trenton Makes: The World Takes” and the history of Trenton’s factories is along the platform. Artwork along the platform is inspired by this motto, clearly visible from all trains on the Northeast Corridor crossing the Delaware River.
