Warren Street/NJIT is the last underground Newark City Subway Station and is just before the tunnel portal and the farthest you can go from Penn Station using a discounted 70¢ underground fare. The station consists of two side platforms with cream tiled walls and a grey trimline around the WPA murals building the Morris Canal. Warren is written in this trimline with cream colored text on brown in addition to modern Warren St./NJIT that interrupt this historic trimline. Exits are at the extreme outbound end of the platforms. A small staircase leading up past the TVMs for each platform. These lead to two streetstairs up from the Grove Street-bound platform and one from the Penn Station-bound platform to east and west respective sides of Lock Street between New Street and Warren Street (south).
