Kedzie is a Green Line Station located on the elevated structure above Lake Street that was totally rebuilt in 1996 with a 'modern' design. The station has two side platforms that have white canopies covering mesh walls for most of their length except at the extreme ends of the platforms, where there is just a green fence and white posts holding up platform signs. The center of the station has a second canopy structure that has beams crossing over the tracks and canopies that extend almost fully across both tracks. The station has one main entrance with streetstairs at the SE and SW corners and an elevator at the SE corner of Kedzie Avenue and Lake Street up to a fare control area with turnstiles directly on the Loop-bound platform. To reach the Harlem-bound platform there immediately west of the fare control area is a single staircase and elevator up to the standard overpass. There are two additional exits both with staircases down to a high exit turnstile at street level. One leads down from the Harlem-bound platform across from the station entrance to the NE corner of Kedzie Avenue and Lake Street. The other is towards the western end of the Loop-bound platform down to the south sidewalk of Kedzie Avenue just a bit west of the main entrances.
